Ideas help: I live in jeans, but they are too hot for the beach. - Help.com

I live in jeans, but they are too hot for the beach.

I haven’t worn shorts in 20+ years, don’t really know why. I have the fortunate/unfortunate, depending on your p.o.v. of a larger inseam than waist so finding pants is also fun. Also, I don’t care for drawstrings, or anything that isn’t machine wash & wear. I also don’t want to look like a old man in them. Any ideas?

wearing pants doesn’t make you look old, maybe your style overall might. if it’s too hot bring shorts back. or uh, speedos XD.

Actually I’m much the same, I only wear shorts for playing football! I’m also really bad when it comes to going shopping for clothes.

My (slightly) sexist tip of the day? Take the most stylish girl you know out shopping for the day, tell her you need to upgrade your wardrobe, she gets to pick the clothes and you will pay for dinner later on. But don’t hand over your credit card!!!

And please god don’t wear speedos to the beach unless you have the body of Brad Pitt and are packing an elephant trunk down there!

Making guys wear collared shirts is just cruel! Especially if you have to put a tie on with that, they are just never comfortable. I’d rather take my chances with speedos to be honest… ;)

dress pants to me is anything that isn’t a pair of jeans or doesn’t try to look like a pair of jeans, with the the exception of workout & lounge/sleepwear.

ok, here is where I differ. If I have to wear a dress shirt, meaning a shirt that buttons down the front, I’m definately tucking it in. Otherwise it’s just poor taste and frankly makes you look like a slob.

Agree, definitely tuck them in with a pair of “smart” jeans and it’s a winner. But is that look acceptable in the office?

As for the hiding lovebites comment… it’s been a long time since I had to do that! Unfortunately!

Agreed, he looked really bad with it untucked lol..good thing about him is that he has the best chest ever..real flat lol..so he can pull the tucking in really well:) Tops with buttons down the from must be tucked any other tops shouldn’t lol..I totallyy agree:)

Cool:) smart jeans?? do these differ from normal jeans? or do you mean jeans in black? I do think they would be acceptable to wear in the office:) Oh yeahh.. just wear a really cool belt, and that tie!!! Ohhhhh:)

Smart jeans are ones that don’t have the faded denim look or the “fashion” rips in them. Basically they’re the uncomfortable jeans!

Could you pull off one of these looks?

You could try one of those spray-on or lotion tanning creams? I’ve never used one (because I don’t mind being as white as copy paper) but some people swear by them.

Spray-on for a guy? Really??? There is something very non macho about that I’m afraid, and all of your mates in the pub will definitely call you up on it and make you get the next round in for being orange.

Those clothes are pretty great but although I can’t speak for Ra, I’m definitely not handsome enough to pull off one of those looks!

I’m quite practical, so I like to make sure I wear something to the beach that is easy to get the sand out of. Seriously, it gets EVERYWHERE!

True, I guess it is a form of makeup, and makeup is a no-go for males unless they are movie stars, pop singers, or metrosexual.

I’ve never heard of “smart” jeans from my viewpoint any jeans other than unfaded, unripped black jeans are unacceptable for “semi-formal” attire. I’ve never worked in a office so I wouldn’t know about that. I’ve never met an uncomfortable pair of jeans.

The orange look, I think, is worse than the pale white look.

Look #1 A sweater vest on the beach…really??
Look #2 Yeah, probably, but the pants are too short, ignoring the problem.

There’s no pleasing me, is there? lol

Ok, choose the trousers from the first and the shirt from the second. I think that would work. Or just go with the first look but skip the sweater vest. Or wear a white or light colored polo shirt or button-front shirt with the trousers. Sweater vests are more for cooler weather anyway, even for the men who wear them.

I could do that. My wardrobe(ehh! really need a guy word for that) consists mainly of jeans & concert T-shirts.
