I have been asked to go behind my bosses back by someone

who in affect on the same level and has been asked and appointed by the managing director to sort out issues in work…
My moral compass says i shouldnt simply because I have a conscience however realistically speaking my boss is not acting like a boss…and he is making our job harder. He recently sacked a work collegue because they could not affor to pay him.and the work load has changed… we are all workign above our stations…an we have put up with a lot as a team but going against the person you answer to everyday…not good right…
the person asking the question is also the one and the same guy I asked out 2 months ago.so now i am in a situation where i think he might be using charm to get what he wants and then I could lose my job…
What would you do???

Confront the person who is asking you to do this, tell them you are not entirely comfortable with the idea and suggest an alternative that does not strike you as quite so moraly dodgy.

i’d go over both of their heads and report this wrong activity to THEIR boss.

No no no no no no no no no!!!

If this other guy wants information or something done, you tell HIM that HE has to do it, because it’s wrong for you to sneak around your boss or do things behind his back. If this other guy really has any power or authority to back him up, he can get the stuff without you.

Be firm. Just tell him, “I don’t feel comfortable in going behind my boss and doing things that could be seen as undermining him. This is something you need to do on your own–or you get my boss’s permission for me to do it. I do NOT want to be caught in the middle!”
