Everyday, I’m saddened by how simply stupid, close minded, and prejudiced people really are.

It hurts even though I know there must be goodness in humanity. It’s just when I go out into the world my skin is not thick enough anymore. Some cop follows me around a store, or I get snubed by a sales clerk, and all that sadness comes back. We really aren’t intrinsically good as far as I can see. Your average person only treats people who are in their own group or who have social prestige well.

What makes it worse, is that people really think they’re progressive. I used to get followed around, stared at, really rude questions where I went to school. I always took it in stride thinking I really was going to get beyond it. But I didn’t. I’m not one of the strong ones. I should have stayed away.

The United States, is full of judgemental people just like the rest of the world, but what makes it worse is that people are always under the impression that it’s other people. No, It’s us, all of us. There could be no evil if the world were not populated with people. There would only be a natural, balaced blue ball strolling through space. I pray that we do destroy ourselves, so that the world may be cleansed of the mistake nature made when humanity was created.

I guess that makes this a blue day.

Yeah, that’s the view I’ve taken as well. It makes me wonder why people find it difficult to comprehend why God lets evil exist on earth. It’s always seemed to me as if it’s apparent we bring it with us.
“If there is evil in this world, it lurks in the hearts of man…” - Yoshiharu Gotanda

However, it is possible to succeed in going against that nature to some extent.

All I can say is.. not everyone is like that. Sometimes they’re hard to find.
But it just makes it better when you do. :)

thanks for the replies

@ thep
that’s a very nice story.
but like most misanthrops, don’t really hate anyone….the negativity in the world is just a bit too much some days

I personally think it’s like software. some people have software that is compatible with the current system and some people don’t

I really don’t have it.

Any person can adapt if they want to. But sometimes it’s not them that needs to change, but the system ^^

Instead of praying, “we do destroy ourselves, so that the world may be cleansed of the mistake nature made when humanity was created,” why not pray that good will prevail? Do you honestly believe “you” are a good person? If you do then why wouldn’t you believe there are other people in this world that are good as well? Maybe all the good people are hiding on help.com. ;)

I think it’s very painful for every good person to take an honest look at this world. I genuinely don’t think you are alone in how you feel. I also agree with you that animals sometimes seem a lot more worthy of life than people. I think that on a daily basis when I look at my furry kids and how loving and gentle they are with me. It’s easy to feel these ways and just think the entire world is bad, heck maybe it is.

… But what if there was just one person out there that felt exactly like you do? Would you want to destroy that person just to get rid of everyone else? Sometimes we have to put on our Superman costumes and go fight the good fight. When you sit around and just wallow in how messed up the world is then you are just becoming part of that mess, not a solution. Be part of the solution!

Sorry I meant animals (my ‘family’)

You can only be someone’s headache if you think that way & if you want to.

Hope I am not anyone’s headache:(

@ lexi

Thank you for your thoughful response.

Part of my problem, lexi, is that the more I experience, the more I think that there is no solution. I mean if we were so good, we wouldn’t continue to wreck havoc on our fellow man. I might be a good person, but how would I really know? I’m probably just as bad as the people I encounter. I mean they don’t think they’re being prejudiced or cruel. They think they’re thoughtful and kind people just like everyone else. They take care of their kids and mow their lawn and pay their taxes just like, me. If it’s not a little bit of everyone, than who is it? It has to be the people we are and the people we know. It’s just like people always thinking, well things like that are not supposed to happen around here..

While, normally I agree with your sentiment, the older I get the less often I can conclude as I did with childlike innocence that the people just didn’t know any better, that there are some good that do enough to balance the amount of deprevity in the world. Normally, I try to project the positive, in hopes that I might be the sort that does some good, but lately, … I really do think things would be better if we didn’t exist. Not that people were punished or something like that, how can people be punished for being what they are?

I’ll just wallow a bit longer..then go back to projecting the positive in hopes of others feeling it more than I’ve ever been able to.

We are all on the outside looking in… Who amongst us can truly say that they’ve always felt like they fit in, like they belonged like they didn’t need to wokr for it.
We all believe in the myth of the ‘happy settled people’. We are all plagued with some sadness. Some days we give in other days we overcome- thats human existence for you.
Maybe mother nature wipes us off and the slate is clean for a new start. Maybe the system changes and we all live in Utopia… In the meanwhile life continues and yes sh*t happens. Question is do you live or just continue to exist till then?

It’s very difficult to project something positive if you don’t truly feel that way inside. I would say, in my 30+ years of living on this planet, I’ve felt exactly what you are feeling numerous times. I’ve also felt the undeniable passion in my gut to make things better for those I love and the next generations to come. It’s very difficult to say “ah f*** it all, we’re just not worth it as a people anymore” when you look into the eyes of an innocent child.

If we can’t be fervent about saving our own human race than what is it all for? What else is more important?

I blame TV. It seems like the loudest and nastiest people and situations get the airtime. You seldom see the good stories on the news like those of a single soldier saving a group of children from a burning building or the man who spends hours out of his day to take care of an elderly, widowed neighbor who isn’t able to fend for himself. It’s important to see hopeful situations to give us hope in these dark times. It’s out there; sometimes we just have to seek it out, it’s seldom handed to us because it typically doesn’t get the ratings that evil, chaos and catastrophic events get.

We all fit somebody or some group’s profile of an evil stereotype. Probably everybody has the experience in his or her life of feeling singled out for his or her differences; it is likely that many people sometimes have the feeling they’re being followed by a store detective (been there lol they’re not too subtle, are they?). The beauty of the human race is that we ARE created with good and bad traits AND differences. Every time somebody darkens your day, be that much more determined to let your light shine that much brighter. Be positive as an encouragement to others!

“Where there is light, there is shadow” This is a quote that i have heard many times. while it is sometimes difficult to find the good in humanity amongst all the evil and darkness, it is all the more rewarding when you find glimmers of light that shine amidst all of the shadow. Do not be too worried about the balance within those who surround you. Always remember that the true enemy is the darkness within yourself, and work to control it while at the same time letting the goodness within your heart be shown to all around you. always remember that while darkness and evil will never be completely gone, so it will be the same with the light and the good within the peoples hearts.

I do not claim to be a perfect person or a complete saint. Like everyone else in the world I have my bad habits and problems that I need to work on, but at the same time, i also have good traits that people look favorably upon.
