Why is it that those who refuse to accept the status quo are cast out?

Because they don’t persuade others well enough to refuse to accept the status quo with them.

Because everyone else is afraid of what they would be (as in what people would think of them) without the status quo. They’re afraid of loosing their power, and dropping down on the “social ladder”. Those who don’t accept the status quo are more out there, don’t care what other people think, and make some of the best friends you will ever have :)

Because people are scared of “dropping down on the social ladder” ,as sailorsoldier said, so they cast out the people that could possibly do that to them.

You have to find those other people who refuse to accept the status quo. Other people who will accept you for you and not care what clique you belong to, who your other friends are, how you dress, etc.
