Why shouldn’t Palestine be a full member of the United Nations?

Why so much resistance from Obama?? Didn’t he promise to settle with a 2 state solution? What the hell is going on here?

it depends on what you think the united nations should be.
I personally think all nations should be represented(note I said nations, not countries)

I’m not sure that has much to do with the two state solution though, that would require that both palistine and isreal respect each other;s right to exist without the other’s interference.

Despite all the death and destuction no one wants to be “the one” To compromise in these sort of conflicts is often portraried as capitulation. Most realize they can’t abolish either stat, but in thier heart of hearts they still want to, because they have been ingured.

Palestine should not be a member state because 1., they are governed by what has be considered a terrorist organization in too recent of history for them to join a peacekeeping organization and 2., As they fight for the right to be acknowledged by the global community as an existing entity, they strive to deny Israel its very existence. Not in line with UN procedure. It wouldn’t make any sense for Palestine to be in the UN anyway considering its current state of affairs, it would serve them well to act as an invited state for a few years to earn the trust of the global community and then apply for a seat as a full member state. And if they were a peaceful nation looking toward the goal of the United Nations, they would have no problem with that. At least, that is my understanding of the situation.

It really doesn’t matter who runs a state. Outsiders shouldn’t get to decide your gov’t is not legitament. Lot’s of people would consider many acts of the US gov’t terrorist as well, as they have fully admited to assisting in the overthrow of legitament leaders a several nations and interfering with internal conflicts in order to make the situation more favorable to their gov’t. It’s all about power and where you stand. The reality is, the west rules the world, in many situations. This is one of those situations. In fact that the entire current middle eastern struggle has been directly related to the colonialism and interference of outside peoples. Oh, but now it’s call terrorism. Never mind the fact that we feuled the fires, gave them the weapons. Set up a situation to fail by promising things to all sides.

Yes, our view is skewed. I’m not sayiong theirs isn’t either. But theres blood all over the ground and the stains really belong to a lot more nations and peoples than people commonly talked about.

The United Nations is BS. But the idea, could have been beautiful. A true venue for all nations to come together and have discourse would have been a great thing for the world. To bad the structure itself if flawed and unfair.
