yay vacation :D but where do i go?

finally allowing myself to use up my vacation and i want to go someplace foreign. it came down to 2 options - south america (’cause that’s where i’m from) or india(’cause a couple of friends vacationed there and rave about it). i have distant family in south america so visiting them would be a plus i suppose. india, one of my friend’s parents moved back there and they offered to show me around their town and let me stay w/ them for a couple of days ’till we’re done. i’ve been to south america before and at least know the language. india, uh i’ve heard good things and bad things, not to mention i’ll have to find my way from the city(chennai if i were to go, my friend’s parents live on the outskirts). i’ll be going for 2 weeks and really want to see the taj mahal. idk if there’s any other tourist place around there i’d be interested in. not really into the temples and/or historical places. i’d appreciate any tips/info/comments. :)

I think you should make a list of all the things you want to see/do while in either country. While writing the list, you should be able to figure out which one sounds more exciting (aka which one you should visit)!

Make the list so that it includes:
-people (family, friends, meeting new people there, etc)
-sites (Taj Mahal, etc)
-activities (hiking, swimming, skiing, exploring, etc. whatever your into)
-cultural things (is there a festival going on?, what aspects of each culture are you interested in, etc)
-day-to-day things (food, night-life, shopping, etc.)
-whatever else you feel is intriguing.

Buy a travel guide to each country you plan to visit and look through them. They’ll help you decide what to put on your list.

I hope you have fun on your trip!!

Depends. Are you spending time in India all by yourself and are you a female? People (from India) have discouraged me to do that in the past, because women are treated badly. Especially dangerous if you don’t know the languages (although, you might walk into quite some English speakers)

thanks for the comments, i’m still deciding. about india- yes i’m a girl, don’t know their language and other than the few days i spend w/ my friend’s family i would be there on my own. i’ve heard the same thing, but then being around tourist areas would seem all right(not that i’d know from experience).
