depression help: Does anyone have a puppy don’t care other than that it - Help.com

Does anyone have a puppy don’t care other than that it not gorw too big becuase I am in a wheel chair and would want to keep it with me on my lap.

I am on a fixed income. I am forced to live this way because of a hit and run automobile acident in 1998. Since then my health has worsen I am a kidney dialysis patient . So thank GOD I’m living. I have a 6 year old and I can’t relly interact with him and his real dad was not very nice, I felt defenseless against him be imobile and things. But this is not a pity party I just want someon with a small dog to make it available I guess to me and my son, I’ll hold him and play with him or her and he’ll feed it, walk it, and grow with it through play, and training. I will be honest I receive 650 per month disability. And am will to pay at least 100$ putting a bill on hold. But I heard that a dog is therapeutic. That it releives depression, and I love dogs so much my spirit is yearning for one the I can love and call my own. Thank you for a response. If I had to pay a little more it is that important for me to sacrafice.

With that kind of budget I’d recommend against getting a dog. There is about $500 a year in shots and healthcare for a dog, as well as at least $50 to $100 a month in food. I can appreciate the desire for a dog as I just adopted one myself, but in your case you may be better off becoming a volunteer for the animal shelter or something if you wish to get closer to them.

I don’t see anything wrong with getting a dog. And our German Shepherd certainly didn’t cost $100.00 a month, although the spaying and shots were pretty expensive when we first got her.

But…in your situation, I’d call the local humane society, and find out about fostering one first. That way, if there will be issues you can send him back if neccesary, and also gives you a chance to find out what kind of dog would be a good match. You would want something quiet and docile, but smart enough not to be constant trouble.
