if i have a pitbull and for some reason my state decides to pass a law against pit bulls what will happen to mine?

i know that some states they have a law that makes it so they can take the dog (even if you are just passing thru and stop to get gass) and kill it. will i be forced to move, put it down, or will i be able to keep it because i had it long before the law was thought of? HELP. :(

I think they’re likely to confiscate it and possibly put it down. Either way, unless the law has a “grandfather clause” you won’t be allowed to keep it.

Don’t get one; if you have one, find another home for him out of state as soon as you can.

That also applies to many dogs that might be mistake for pit bulls. Sadly, a lot of people really don’t know the dogs when they see them; they just mistake any short-haired, short-snouted dog for a pit bull. At the very least, that can cause you to have to constantly prove your dog isn’t one.
