Is this considered bulimia?

I recently began making myself vomit after meals again (I was “clean” for about six months.) But I’ve never thrown up because I was trying to keep my weight down or because I have issues with my body.

Originally I threw up because I felt nauseated and it made me feel better, it would shock me into calming down when I was upset. I did occassionally throw up just because I felt like I should- you know, didn’t want to break the cycle.

And I know I shouldn’t do it but I’d like to know what kind of disorder this is, when I purge but don’t generally binge and it doesn’t have to do with wanting to stay thin.

Looks like you have the symptoms, but you’ve got them under control. Only sensible advice anyone here can give you is to consult a medical professional about it.

What part of eating makes you sick? I think you need to share this with us before we can help you. :)

Eating doesn’t really make me sick.. It’s just that sometimes I already feel terrible (often emotionally as well as physically) and if I vomit it soothes me.

i did it for stress relief too. i suffer from an anxiety disorder and i used this to cope. it’s reallllllllly bad for you and you can die sooner than you think from this. it’s more likely though that you might get some conditions and health problems that are irreversible and i know it doesn’t seem like it would happen to you, but it can. you really don’t want to live with those.

imagine everything in your life is perfect for you in the future, but because of what you’re doing now, some problem arises later. it really can ruin everything.

go to the doctor and talk about bulimia. they will tell you things you didn’t even imagine. i won’t ask you to google it but a lot of “pro” stuff comes up. this is so terrible for your body. i regret the first time i ever made myself throw up. there are much better healthy ways to deal with stress and you will have to try all of them until you find one that works for you.

i would not call this bulimia since bulimia is a body-image disorder. but what you are experiencing is something that you should definitely seek help for. everyone has way of coping with difficulties in life. sometimes it’s healthy, like art or sports. sometimes it’s unhealthy, like cutting, drug abuse, excessive promiscuity, or vomiting. you should talk to your doctor or counselor about what’s been going on.
