A charmingly prolific insight, or just a silly notion?

Isn’t it strange that we always want more time in life, but when we are truly happy with our lives, the passing of time flies by in an instant, and when we are not so happy or bored, the passing of time seems to drag on forever?

I guess the only redeeming factor is that when time drags on forever we don’t really recall the exact memories of that time when we sit and reminisce over our past. We just remember all those good an exciting times when time seemed to fly by.

So in some strange way, the time that we get to be truly happy is extended when ever we think about it in the future, so our perception of how time passes always seems to still balances itself out in the end.

What do you think about the perception of time?

The notion itself isn’t silly. Time is an absolutely fascinating topic to me! There are so many ways to look at our perception of time. Hmm, I’m going to post a few thoughts, but allow me a few moments to organize them…

No problem, I’m glad I could make somebody’s day. Time is such a intriguing thing.

I apologize, I have at least 20 tabs open on this subject now.
I will eventually post (probably in a few hours’ time [heh]). I just need to read these articles…

What comes to mind of time passing quickly is my time lived in naivete.
When I am more aware of my actions, like now, I aim to watch each moment.
I should live in the moment in order to be happy.

In my experience, time does fly when you’re having fun; and by extension, stands still when you’re not. Though the observant may note that in contemplation of this, how much of it has passed and how much has been wasted.

I know what you mean, It doesnt seem possible that when we are the happiest time does seem to go faster,no cares or worries,it’s when we are troubled or have problems to solve, you seem to appreciate life and its short comings more ,you think of what it really means ,your place in the world with your family and position ,and what you can do to change things for the better ….life and its joys should never be taken for granted and the troubles we face in everyday living will come a little easier i think….
