night help: Issue with talking in my sleep. - Help.com

Issue with talking in my sleep.

Hi there, I ended up spending the night in a hotel last night after going to a semi-formal event. While staying at this hotel I was sharing a bed with the woman I took to the event.

She told me that she didn’t get any sleep because she is a very light sleeper but she told me that I was being very loud, snoring and talking in my sleep. This doesn’t sit well with me truthfully. I am very concerned because this can really impede on my future relationships if I am talking in my sleep.

Now I read up on problems about talking in your sleep. It turns out that it usually happens when you are very stressed out. Now this is where it all makes sense. I’m currently working 3 jobs and waiting for my university application to come through so it would make sense that I am very stressed. My biggest concern though is that I have a very long history of talking in my sleep.

Does anyone have any experiences with this? I am highly considering consulting a doctor.

I think it depends on what is being said at the time. Lots of people snore&talk in their sleep as long as your not saying another Womans name then I think youll be fine.
Still theres no harm in speaking to your Doctor if your so worried about it, babe.

Well my father was always a talker during sleep and snores a lot too.

The amount of talking during sleep does seem related to stress, at least in my experience with my father. You should try keeping your mind clear of problems when you go to bed, if you fall asleep thinking about daily problems and stressful situations you probably won’t be able to stop talking during your sleep anytime soon.

As a matter of curiosity, do you answer back if someone replies to whatever you are talking during sleep?
