girl help: I just got a new job last month starting the beginning of November. - Help.com

I just got a new job last month starting the beginning of November.

I have honestly gone above and beyond the call of duty with this job so that I can work my way up and get more hours. Because it’s starting out as part-time. So the new girl that just got hired 2 weeks after me is getting more hours than I am. I was so upset and find it ridiculous that they did that. Her husband works there too so I’m sure that’s why. But I almost find that as discrimination. What are all of your opinions on this?

I think they are being unfair. You have more preference over her since you started before her. But we also have to look at it from the other point of view. What is her work experience or educational experience and if its the same as yours then ur management is being very unfair with you. I don’t know if you should talk to them either since you are new to this job. Just wait a little and see how it goes and it they are still being fair, I suggest you someone bring it in your conversation with your supervisor about how you could get more hours but don’t mention the other girl at all.

Employers are notoriously unfair. Maybe she works harder. Maybe she has huge hooters. I am sure her husband working there had a lot to do with it but if you are just part time there is not a lot you can do.
