college help: unusual dreams? - Help.com

unusual dreams?

Sometimes I get these weird dreams. I close my eyes and all I see is a mangled face laughing or yelling at me and then it’s as if I’m awake and i feel her breathing on my neck and somebody calling my name like they need help and i try so hard to move but I cant and i try to scream and they keep calling my name and i try and force myself to wake up but i just can’t.
I get this dream a lot when I’m home, but since I’ve been away at college I don’t have the dream as often, but I did today. It typically always happens right after an unexplained cut/bruise/injury. and when I’m at home at that point where I’m awake but not awake at the same time i always feel like I’m being pulled toward the closet. I’ve had dreams like this since i can remember.
am I crazy? I haven’t had these dreams for awhile, but I had one today and i found it odd to have one here instead of at home..

Does it happen too when you are not sleeping belly up?

Whoa sounds like a pretty bad dream, when you started getting these did something big happen?? or some large jarring event?? Also are you feeling stressed at the moment?

Hope they go away soon, sounds like some pretty bad dream

i used to think they happened when i slept a certain way, but it really doesnt matter what position i sleep in

I’ve had these dreams ever since I could remember. one of my first memories was actually having one of these dreams and trying to go outside but i couldn’t move…i don’t remember it exactly it was right when we moved into the house i grew up in. But i can’t think of anything that could trigger it. I should be stressed but I’m really not…i haven’t felt anything more then depressed/guilty since college started…I really haven’t been feeling other emotions except for yesterday when I actually felt scared when i woke up.

I’ve had similar dreams, they would only happen when I slept belly up, and especially when I thought about them when in bed.

See Sleep paralysis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_pa…

Some reports read that various factors increase the likelihood of both paralysis and hallucinations. These include:
Sleeping in a face upwards or supine position
Increased stress
Sudden environmental/lifestyle changes
A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode.
Excessive consumption of alcohol coupled with lack of adequate sleep.[18]

You’ll be interested in the folklore section, although reading it may give you worse dreams (there will be descriptions fitting your dreams).

Really? Maybe because you are feeling depressed, or because you are keeping all the stress inside thats making it happen? I know a few people when big things are happening they get really really bad nightmares?

Kind of random but I was told if its a rainy type day or if your room is kind of pressurized then you are more likely to have bad dreams since it puts pressure on your brain, but I don’t really know if this really relates to you or if thats actually true.
