Why do people have to prove themselves?

Especially minorities. Whenever a minority (black, asian, hispanic, indian) does anything, and I mean ANYTHING, their entire race gets thrown into the equation, but if a white person does something, they are individually judged. It seems apparent that in America, many believe that white people are the only ones in the world who have distinct personalities, and if the behavior of a minority is similar to that of another, it’s classified as typical behavior of the race as a whole.

But then, with other people, the situation is reversed, and then it’s white people who have to prove to the minorities that they are not in fact racist, but if they say anything to disagree with a minority, their comment is treated as such.

Why does everyone have to be guilty until proven innocent in this world? Why can’t everyone get the benefit of the doubt, regardless of their race? Can’t people just get along?

People are and always will be ignorant. Deal with it.

I disagree. When there’s a minority group which ignorant people know nothing about, they will make judgements on the minority as a whole from the limited experience they have had with people.

That’s just it, though. Why do people let themselves be told what to think?

You’ve probably just spent too much time in large cities.
Most towns in the United States aren’t like that.
Try living in a small town for a few years.
You’ll be amazed at how different America really is from the huge cities.

It’s why we let Iowa pick our presidential candidates.
Because Iowa is representative of the United States as a whole.
