Thought help: Gift idea for six year old boy? - Help.com

Gift idea for six year old boy?

In my family, we all give small gifts to everyone else for Christmas. I’ve got a list of twenty people and a budget of about zero, and I’m ok with that. For the little girls, I’m sewing rag dolls, and for my infant nephew a teddy bear. For the adults and for my own preteen sons, I’m gifting food items. The only person I have no idea what to give is my six year old nephew. I feel like a six year old boy isn’t going to want a teddy bear, but might be disappointed by the adult gift of a homemade spiced nut snack mix. I’m contemplating buying him a bag of candy. (I can buy food because we get food stamps, but I can’t buy anything else because all the money we have goes to paying for bills.) What do you think: handmade stuffed toy, candy, or snack mix? Or something else that I haven’t thought of? The boy likes video games and remote control cars.

Oh, and we are making custom gift boxes too.

It would be complicated but if your sewing ability is Amazing! you could do it.
A medium sized stuffed animal, that is also a little functional with a hidden compartment on the back that he can hide stuff in.
Just a thought! If I were 6 I would love it =)
whatever it does end up being though, (as I’m sure you will) just send lots of love along with it and it’ll all work out =)

My 6 year old cousin wanted nothing more this Christmas than a sleigh bell from Santa’s sleigh… but he’s a little ‘behind’ than others his age.

How about a chocolate Santa?

Or you could sew him a vest . . . like the big ones outdoorsmen wear, but his size, with pockets all over!

I think a stuffed animal would be a good idea. I have 3 cousins that are 6 years old and I am getting them a stuffed animal. I have even gotten a different animal for each, because it’s their favorite animal. What ever you do, should be made/given with a lot of love. :)

How about a date with Beyonce Knowles? Or a sleep over with Britney Spears?

Oh,… nevermind, I thought you said a 60 year old boy.

Car stickers with a scrap book attached so he can put his stickers there and maybe write or draw something about them.

Thanks, everyone, for the ideas. My sewing is adequate, not great. I can do straight lines and simple curves, and I can follow a pattern if I have one. Anyway, my sister told me he would definitely not be interested in a stuffed toy. I’m thinking something in chocolate might work well.

The vest idea and scrapbook idea are also interesting, but I’m afraid both might be beyond my construction capacity with such short time left. I still need to sew seven dolls and finish decorating and gluing nine boxes!
