friends help: How do I get past this very deep desire my subconscious thinks I need? - Help.com

How do I get past this very deep desire my subconscious thinks I need?

Disney movies, love songs, romance stories, years of all my friends having boyfriends and not me…

Obviously, I know that I do not need a man. Especially as a Job Corps student. Dating on of them is equivalent to dating a coworker. But, since I’ve been living there (for a month and a half) I’ve had the interest of at least 4 that I know of. My subconscious finds this very exciting. I however, find it adds unnecessary drama. And at Job Corps, drama is the LAST thing anyone needs. So, how do I tell them and myself no? Also, how do I stop getting the interest of them without flat out ignoring them (since they make better friends than girls)?

Thanks ~Tobi

That would be great, but I can’t do that at Job Corps.

Tell them you’re not interested in dating (out of nowhere). Then just act like you didn’t say it. Blunt is good in these situations. Don’t ever EVER lead them on because you’ll eventually get jealouse when or if they find someone who’ll eventually date them. Proof: I’ve seen it 100 times and I’ve been there alot.

That isn’t going to stop them. My friend Tawnie already has a boyfriend (outside of Job Corps) and they won’t leave her alone either :(

The best thing to do is date after the both of you get out of Job Corps. There’s a curse at Job Corps, almost every one graduates pregnant or dating somebody pregnant.

I did.
