Tom planned his climb to the top of Terror Mountian on saturday.
Tom climbed to the top of terror mountain last Saturday.
nope. its got to say something about him planning it
Because it’s not the same sentence otherwise. The meaning would be changed. The sentence talks about Tom planning his climb. It never says he actually performs the climb.
Ok, well if that is your logic, the original sentence doesn’t say anything about planning the event on Saturday. It states that the event will occur on Saturday.
And I don’t see how it matters. The question was, please rewrite this sentence in past tense. We both did this.
But if it is that big of a deal, here’s another:
On Saturday, Tom climbed to the top of terror mountain after carefully planning the event.
If you want to be that picky about it, that revision is more accurate to the original statement. It refers to a planning, and when the event occurred.
umm.. i still have to disagree with you. the original sentence is “tom
is PLANNING on climbing the top of terror mountain next saturday.” It talks about tom planning the climb, not tom climbing.
Ok, my first sentence isnt clear as to whether he is planned, or climbed on saturday. I guess a better sentence would be: “Tom planned his climb to the top of Terror Mountian for Saturday.”
I want example of sentences using the simple past or the past progressive
“Imperfection is inherited, therefore we all sin, but fighting the war of sin is the greatest war of all because we all die in the end no matter how hard we fight.”
