If it is a verified member you can see a little blue man with a + sign on the right of the nick line. Click on it. (But as anonymous you cannot.)

Yeah you have to join with a real email and then you can friend people by hitting the green + sign and if they reciprocate you will be their friend.

Well, it should be the BLUE sign.
