Sometimes I hate the over dramatic!

The people that like to exaggerate everything, for example when someone says they are good at something they could do it with their eyes closed, or, I have told you a million times not to do that..

But I think the ones I hate the most are these 2.

I had the flu the other week.
(No you didn’t, you had a bad cold, if you had the flu you would have been in bed not being able to move and you sure as hell would not have been able to go to the cinema like you did)

And the best, wow, I have a really bad migraine at the moment.
(you mean a bad headache, if you had a migraine you would not have the radio on and be stood in a very well lit room telling me about it!)

Blah!

I say this because I had a migraine earlier today, it started off as a really bad headache, took painkillers but didn’t really do much and then in progressed into a migraine where I could not move my head and any noise felt like it was going to kill me.
I had to go and lay down in a dark room, to painful to sleep so I had to lay there not moving and just waiting for it to ease off.

I raise this because I was just telling a friend and they told me that they had a migraine at this point in time also, hmmm, don’t think so, you are on the computer!!!!

Any body else get cheesed off like me?

Yea. I know where you’re coming from. When I get a migraine I can’t even be in a room where the lights are on as it only aggravates my headache. I think some people just can’t stand not being the center of attention even if having a headache doesn’t put them in the center of attention. My aunt is a lot like that. My mom will tell her “my daughter had a seizure today” and my aunt will say “oh really? So did my son.” Even though he has never been diagnosed with the condition. So, yea, I can relate.

Lazy I’ve spoken to you before as anon as I know you have health issues as I do. I have been really bad recently, unable to get out of bed and my day being bathing, eating and sleeping and today, I’m much better. But regardless of how bad our time is with our health issues, remember that there are some people who would LOVE to have our worst days. I went to a disability conference and this lady said, ‘If I did not get help, I would die.’ Imagine being unable to get out of bed, go to the toilet, feed yourself without help. And some people like this manage to work full time with government funding which as you know this government (UK) is removing.

Although we have our health issues, we are really lucky and must remember that even when we are having our worst days. And what I love about being better, after feeling like a 95 year old for a few days is the energy and motivation I get to do everything because I don’t know when I’ll be ill again. I am overwhelmed with a sense of feeling really lucky for being able to be well for the times I am. Hope you can relate to my outlook. And I’m glad you’re feeling better today.

Yes I do understand what you are saying and I guess another pet peeve of mine is when someone tells you what you are feeling or the pain you are in should be pushed aside because others have it worse, well yes, I do know others have it worse but what I am talking about are the people who don’t have it worse but trying to tell you they do because they some how feel like they are missing out.

Like with depression when you talk about the times you have been really bad and hit rock bottom and someone tells you that they were once depressed but just decided to get over it and tell you to do the same, well I am sorry but if you were there and if you had actual depression then you would not be able to just get over it, what they had was just a bad day, a day where they felt sad or just not as happy/good as the day before.

Same with illness, when someone tried to say they have something just because they have never actually had the real thing they think it is close enough.

I see what you mean. People trying to, I can’t find the word but minimise or make insignificant your issues. It’s related to a bigger issue of people not regarding you as important as they are. They are the ‘me, me, me’ brigade. You have mega issues with unemployment say and they have an even bigger issue with having their £45,000 + salary freezed for 2 years or having to make do with one car or God forbid, not being able to buy a brand new car for a few years. Luckily since I’ve been ill, those types don’t bother with me anymore. And you know, I don’t care. I haven’t got the energy to pretend to take their issues seriously. When a REAL issue confronts them which it does ocassionally, they are at a lost because they are surrounded by people like them. They are to be pitied really.
