Why did I get blipped?
You’ve got to say Caucasian.

I don’t get it. who’s offended by the word christmas? why would anyone think atheist are offended by the word christmas?

Because many are.
I don’t think it’s a large section of the population, but there’s still a lot of people out there who are offended at the idea of Christmas. Enough so, that companies now label all their products “Holiday Lights” and “Holiday Trees” and “Holiday Cards”. Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and Christmas cards are offensive to the liberals and politically correct crowd. But as long as they’re “holiday” trees, lights, and cards, they’re okay.
Atheists just tend to fall into that camp more often than not. Groups like “Freedom from Religion” are offended by Christmas. Public Schools don’t allow things like Christmas carols, because it could offend somebody. Stuff like that.
But I agree with you. Why on earth would anybody be offended by the word Christmas? It’s absurd. But unfortunately, there are many out there who are. I always laugh about people like that, because it’s equivalent to being offended by birthdays. Because that’s what Christmas is… a world-wide birthday party for Christ.

what companies decide to do has nothing to do with liberals or atheists. companies only do something because it makes them money. especially corporations. corporations are structured such that the only thing that matters to anyone who has any say… is making money.

do you consider christmas to be a religious observance? if yes, then public schools are obligated to take that position. it has nothing to do with atheism and everything to do with the principles the country was founded on.
think of it this way… what if your local public school held an assembly on Eid al-Adha and killed a sheep? unless you’re ok with that, you can’t complain about not being allowed to sing christmas carols.

lemme ask you this… if the President of America said… tomorrow is Marlin’s Birthday.. everyone gets the day off… go out any buy your loved ones a Marlin gift! would you be offended?

Of course not. I’m not offended by other people’s religions or holidays.
I understand that companies are out to make money. And while the ultimate motivation is to make money and a profit, the reasoning is “if we offend people, they won’t buy our stuff”. The two go hand in hand. It’s not like they make changes for no reason at all. There’s a method behind it. And that method is fear of lost customers.
As for the School thing, it has nothing to do with the principles the country was founded upon. Public Schools were INVENTED by Christianity in this country. In fact, if you go back through our nation’s history, you’ll find that public schools were instituted by “The Old Deluder Satan Act”. The purpose of creating schools was to teach kids to read the Bible, so that they wouldn’t be deceived by false Priests and Pastors who seemed very nice, but taught blasphemy.
The Separation of Church and State exists to prevent the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT from creating laws regarding religion, or establishing a religion, or prohibiting free practice of religion. It does not mean that they have a right to force ignorance upon our kids in schools, by omitting one of the biggest and most important things in the world from school teachings altogether.
you are right that “The Old Deluder Satan Act” was a forerunner of more modern public education, but arguably the intent of the law was indoctrination, not education. Also, it was passed by the Massachusetts colony before the USA had even become a country, before the constitution, the amendments, the bill of rights, everything.

well, you’re a little mixed up there regarding the actual language of the amendment. also given the history of the country and the many supplementary documents left behind by the founding fathers, the intent should be very clear, and in fact it is to most of us.

prove it. prove that it’s the most important thing. prove it beyond your subjective opinion
no one is forcing ignorance on kids. it’s actually the opposite. if you want to indoctrinate your kids, there’s plenty of churches that exist for that very reason. AND thanks to the laws of our country, you have plenty of different styles of religious indoctrination to choose from. including those outside the spectrum of christianity.
if the US wanted to kill your religion, then they could’ve attempted to like in the soviet union or communist china.
anyway… it’s not the atheist’s fault like the song complains about.
lmfao man not a red neck but helarias
Haha, that’s funny.
Very funny!!!

It gets funnier the closer to Christmas we get. You start seeing all the “Holiday Trees” and “Holiday Cards”. The more you see the word “Christmas” left off of traditional Christmas items, the funnier it gets.
