OK, I’m a writer or at least I like to think I am.

And well, I keep seeing the words ‘writing process’. What is this process and why don’t I know about it?

The writing process is different for every writer. I would research writers that you like and find out what sort of process they go through to create what they create.

The writing process is just….the process of writing. Like the process of eating an apple. Some people peel it, some people cut it up, some people bite into it, and some people may blend it, stew it, mash it or put it in a pie, but it all ends up as an eaten apple.
Writers all work very differently, and because there is no one way to describe exactly what they’re doing or how they doi it, they just say ‘the writing process’ because sooner or later it’ll end up as a piece of finished work.

They do?

I suppose it’s ‘established’ in the fact that ever writer has to go through it??

In a more general way I suppose you could define it as beginning with ideas, trying them out, and then discarding/expanding them through trial-and-error until you hit on the right mix?

Yes, if someone claims that they have the ‘one’ correct way then they are selling you a lie. No one can tell a writer how they ‘must’ write. A good teacher will suggest and prod and try to get the best from you, but in the end only you will decide from where your ideas will emanate, how you will develop those ideas, and to what audience you will present them. That is the process, IMHO. But, like everyone here seems to be saying, it is only one opinion.

Yes, the writing process or process of writing difers and it is indeed subjective depending on HOW the author would have it. Just like writing essays. There are magnificent ways of starting it like have to write and institute a powerful picturesque of the subject you are writing or your theme. Simple with the touch of eloquence or tastelessly dragging that would turn o anyone. So, it is your choice and i step one in the ladder is not satisying enough for your, go up the next step of the ladder. The ladder has endless steps but ultimately you will end up and be happy staying in one particular step that had convinced you THAT THAT’

The writing prosses is the way you get the words out. Some like to write on computers at the break of day, others, like me, prefer the night… Some like note pads and pencils…

Another thing that “the writing prosses” can be is the prosses of
Rough Draft
Edit
draft
edit some more
final draft

It’s the prosses in which most people get a workable, readable, manuscript. No one can just type something out, and have it perfect in the first go… so each person has their prosses to get the words out, and make them readable.
