I feel bad about this stray dog outside my building.

It’s cold out there, and he’s lonely. I went out and gave him a handful of food which he ate. I returned but he just lays there in a fetus position. I dont think I want to call the animal control that would take him to a shelter. I fear he’d be treated worse in there than he actually is now. I can’t get him to home because I’m still rather young and live with my parents, they don’t allow it. I feel so bad for the dog! What shall I do?

if not animal control, call nearby shelters(if there’s any around, no-kill shelters) and let them know/see what they advise. taking him in yourself is an option if you think it possible i suppose.

Call the RSPCA or whatever animal rescue you have near you , they will look after him that is their job :-)

I think animal control will just put it to sleep. It is a very sad thing that people abandon dogs. If you do ever have a pet make sure you have it fixed unless you can find good homes for the puppies or kittens. I just had my dogs spayed. I let her have one litter and that was it. Over 4 million dogs and cats are put to sleep every year just in the USA. One every 8 seconds. All you can do is feed the dog and hope someone does take it home with them.
