Shooting/aching pain down inner left arm…
Height: 5′ 9″
Weight: I don’t know but probably around 13st 8lbs
Alcohol: Very rare
Cigarettes: Around 3 roll ups daily (unfiltered)
Recreational drugs: Around 8 roll up sized joints with a small sprinkle of cannabis daily
just a query to any health professionals out there.
I’ve been experiencing an awkward ache down the inside of my left arm for most of today. It’s definitely not muscular as it shoots down in pulses quite deep within my arm, sort of on the inside of the arm (closest portion of my arm to the chest) and is hard to locate due to the type of pain it is but I feel like it’s just below the bicep and on top of the humerus where the two meet but it also seems to scale the entire length of the upper part of my arm and is, at some points, felt in the wrist of the same arm. It’s causing me much distress and worry as I suffer with anxiety and have several other unspecified pains/discomforts across my chest. I am suspicious that I am perhaps suffering from chronic Costochondritis. I also suffer, and have suffered, from GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) for about a decade and although I did have helicobacter pylori at one time, it was treated and further screening shows no detectable abnormalities yet the symptoms are very real and rather disabling at times. I’ve been taking omeprazole and lansoprazole for the last ten years, switching between the two once in a while but recently became concerned about possible consequences of long term use so I’ve changed to ranitidine within the last couple of weeks. I’m also taking propranolol for my anxiety and rely on this very much.
Around the middle of January I had a tight pain in my chest which grew stronger and my heart rate was very rapid. I spent 20 hours in hospital and had an ultra sound scan of my heart, several ECG’s, blood tests and had to carry a heart monitor with me for two weeks should I feel any further discomfort, nothing happened until the day after I took it back yet it didn’t scare me as much because there was no evidence of a heart attack from the previous tests although they did discover two abnormalities but didn’t share with me what they were and said they weren’t worried. A couple of weeks ago I had a 24 hour follow up heart monitor and have not yet had the results back.
My Dad died of heart disease at age 58 when I was 13 and this sticks in my mind regarding my health concerns.
I’m a smoker and have been since early adolescence and I also smoke cannabis daily but not big fat joints like a lot of people do, just little roll up sized ones with a little sprinkle every now and then.
I am currently eating healthily, like super healthily using things like flora proactive to reduce my cholesterol, rice, fish, pasta, salads, loads of veg, snacking on rice cakes, fruit, yoghurts and low fat garibaldi and digestive biscuits, that sort of thing.
I don’t get much exercise, I normally do a lot of walking but I’ve not been going out much in this cold british weather.
I’m sorry about the weight of information in this post but it saves the need for too many questions you may need answers to before you can help me.
Any idea’s or experience with what this could be? I just want to be able to stop worrying about it
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Mr T Hunter
