birthday help: Read a slightly disturbing thing a few minutes ago. - Help.com

Read a slightly disturbing thing a few minutes ago.

I was looking up songs that i could adapt for church, and clicked on the first link. It came up with a site from gospel.com about whether or not yourr church uses “secular” songs in worship. I was like whoaa at the things these people thought as secular, stuff like happy birthday and america the beautiful. Come on, i’ve been singing adaptations of stuff like I’m a Believer by counting crows and Another day in paradise. I can’t stand the people who can’t get that the church has to modernize or it will lose it’s congregation. Its not like we’re living in 1300! :) Sorry if you’re offended by this post. (Btw, can anybody think of a good modern popular song that could be changed for worship? google desn’t help!)

Some churches are sticklers for the social traditions, they feel it imbues the congregation with a more weighty authenticity via legacy. I find it rather silly myself, but to each their own.

As for adaptable songs, this one shouldn’t need any adaptations and it kicks F’n @$$! :) I’m not religious and I still love it.

Yes, i know that song. And i agree completly. The church hasn’t had a major change since the reformation. i find people who think traditionally are crazy, no offense to catholics. Btw, our group is hooked on the idea of a queen medly, bohemian rhapsody and somebody to love, but can’t think of a way to change it.

Here’s a religious song to get ‘em quaking in their boots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9IfHD… It’s also ‘mainstream’ and everyone I know who’s listened to it likes it.

I think it’s nice that the posters congregation is progressive. They are willing to make faith work for modern humans rather than let faith die in the face of progress.
