school help: I wish to adapt a film to a stage production and I’m curious about what I need to do? - Help.com

I wish to adapt a film to a stage production and I’m curious about what I need to do?

The film is Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride from 2005. I wish to adapt it to stage for my school to perform some time late this year or early 2013.
I’m wondering what kind of legal complications there may be, as we will be charging admission. Pretty much all of the songs would be kept in.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t need help on HOW to adapt, I need help on the legal side. Who do I need to ask for permission to do it, what copyright issues will be involved…stuff like that.

I am not over 18, nor can I afford to pay these persons for their services.

If you are not of legal age than the copyright question is moot. You won’t be able to do it without TB’s expressed permission in writing. Sorry.

As a last resort try writing to Panik Theatre in Toronto. They did the play in 2010.

That is a good suggestion, but it doesn’t appear to be the same version I’m trying to do.
Also, as this is a school production, there will be a teacher involved.
