school help: Telephone interview. - Help.com

Telephone interview.

. . Ok, so I got a polite rejection letter for the last job I interviewed for, but now I have a phone interview scheduled for next week. The job would be awesome to have (another government job) but would require relocation. I guess the updated resume really does work. Congratulate me again. :)

One tangle is child care during the interview itself. There is no school that day, so all my kids will be home. Maybe I can bribe them to be quiet and peaceful, and even help out with the li’l one. Ice cream. How bad is it to have kids making noises during a telephone interview?

It depends on their ages, but if you chat with the kids about how important this is to you and offer a reward for their silence during the call, it should work. One thing you can do is try to take the call on a phone with a mute or volume control function so you can mute the mic and yell “SHADDUP!!!” If need be.

Good luck!

I’m sure it’s best if you try to minimize as much background noise as possible, but depending on the age of your kids, sometimes you can’t help it. If it happens, just apologize and if you have to excuse yourself, make it as quick as possible.

And hey, I don’t think it would hurt if you tell your kids that you’ll treat them if they’re quiet. :) Just tell them that you have to do something really important on the phone and if they behave, they’ll get a treat.

Good luck!!
