I really need help with this paper ASAP…

.• In recent years, the work performed by both sides in criminal justice affairs has become more specialized [for example, some prosecutors may focus on financial crimes as opposed to ‘crimes against persons’ and some criminal defense attorneys may specialize in handling ‘expert witness testimony’ while others only become involved in appeals issues]. discuss why this trend towards more specialization in the litigation of criminal justice matters has evolved. Is this evolution more beneficial to one side or the other? What overall impact has such an evolution had on the criminal justice system as we know it today as opposed to fifty, twenty-five or even ten years ago.

Hey there! I’m a Criminology student in Wellington New Zealand, I don’t have a lot of experience in Criminal Law, but I do know a lot about Crime in general..

If I were to answer this I would probably go into detail about the vast number of new forms of crime that are occurring these days, for example state crime (eg financial crimes) or internet piracy, identity theft, social network crimes etc. Evolution of the criminal justice system allows people (lawyers etc) to specialise in areas that they are especially interested in and want to work in. Also it allows for more in depth research into those minority areas of the CJS (criminal justice system)which then allows us to understand how to act when presented with cases that may be new or different to the types of cases we are accustomed to in the courts. It may also bring the opportunity for more jobs. I believe it is more of a benefit to the courts (the judges and lawyers) that the CJS has evolved so much, as if it hadn’t, we may struggle to solve/understand how to approach many of the new cases of crime (like identity fraud, piracy etc) that previously didn’t exist 50 years ago.

Hope that helps!

Dont get me wrong I have any idea about that sort of thing but from a layman’s point of view there are possibly 2 ways to look at this:

1. Up until this stage the law society has somewhat remained in an embryonic state as apposed to the medical field and only in recent times has the wider law practicing community has come to recognize ways to specialize in certain fields of law to assist the clients in a more dedicated fashion as the medical fields have done for some time.

2. It may also be inclined to be the result of large law firms building teams of law professionals and have them practice more in certain fields than in others which in turn has spawned this idea of splintering specialized fields within the law practicing community

You really need to study your textbooks and attend lectures as you will have more knowledge than anyone here. Posting here may help a bit but for a college essay you need to cite academic and other sources and help.com cuts no mustard.

Withought being either a lawyer or a criminologist, I’d be suprised if economics were not involved at some level. Criminal law does not pay well. The average solicitor in the Uk is paid £13,000 per year. I expect law firms have sought to identify the least and most profitable areas on the lae. Large firms probably jettison will making, house buying and selling, criminal law tc while focussing on ever more specialised areas defined partly by their profitability eg intellectual property law.

also areas of life have become more legalized eg in the uk the decline of union power has led to more workers seeking legal protection from solicitors, changes in law have also facilitate ambulance chasing.
