Feeling help: i was stupid to blame god about anything. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

i was stupid to blame god about anything.

for feeling miserable. for getting abused. for failing. now that i think about it, i might well blame the sun, the star, the sky, the falling leaves, george washington, jet li. they likely got nothing to do with my miseries as well, but at least they exist.

Well. . .God exists.
You know, people fail to realize the consequences for failing to make the right decesions for themselves. Misery is a way to get your attention. It’s like the pain of your hand being burt on the stove that tells you to remove it from the hotplate. . .
It’s time to start doing what’s right.

sh!t happens. all we can do is try our best. leave the bad behind us, keep the lessons with us, and look for a brighter future.

think about the good stuff you have. not everyone has a lot, some people’s bad stuff outnumbers the good, but dont lose sight of the good. maybe it’s a friend, a future prospect, a dream, maybe even a dog you pass by each day who greets you at the fence. little stuff too. these things are like little buoys in waters of hardship. some people have a puddle, others have an ocean, but we all need a few good things to keep us afloat.

what do you have going for you thats good?

I wouldn’t call good things “blessings” that makes it sound as though they are granted to you.

a good thing can happen, but most often, you need to MAKE it happen. no one will do it for you… i like your attitude, that you are going to find something new.

that, my pal, is a very good thing. a goal, with motive and possibilities.

dont hesitate, ya?

When you think about it, the misery we feel in this life is not caused by God, but by people. It isn’t God Who’s outsourcing all of the jobs, or foreclosing upon homes, or denying people medical coverage–it’s greedy human beings who just can’t seem to get enough, no matter what they have to do to get it.

I believe that we ARE granted some things, like our talents. We are given those to make this world a better place.

The funny thing is, even though the upper one percent have all of this money and power, the bottom 99 percent could still reclaim our countries and this planet if they’d just get up off their a$$es and do it!

Very stacked. People try all the time to change (although its done in a very disorganized and disrespectful manner, which I can understand but really, what do they expect to accomplish?) but the sad truth is, as long as the governing systems we have stay the way they are, non of the “little people” will ever make a proper difference. Only when the politicians change, will the world. But really, very few people like change. Especially in North America… where right wing easily dominates as it is backed by the largest percent of North Americans as well as the main religion, which means that as long as people are being raised into a country who’s beliefs are narrow and exclusive, so will their future be.

I wish I could start my own country where the government actually tried to help the poor, sick, and needy rather than the billionaires… who helped other countries instead of bombing them, who’s trade was fair and we could pride ourselves in practicing equality, not just saying we have it.

But alas, I’ll just have to do with Stephen bloody Harper. I’ve even written and called that loser on a few occasions. Never gets back to the people who cross him…

I know what you mean. I’ve written and emailed our MP, Bob Rae, a number of times. He never answers.

In the USA, both parties are controlled by the rich. The major corporations give millions to both parties–slightly more to the GOP these days–to hedge their bets. I just read that the oil industry more or less bought Congress for $58 million.

At least in Canada with multiple parties, it’s harder to bribe all of the politicians!

I think Jack Layton would have been good for Canada . . . a shame he’s gone onto his reward.

I see now that the Conservatives are telling Canadians they’ll have to cut back on old age pensions and stuff like that, while corporate profits are at their highest in decades. Everywhere you go, government is trying to balance the books on the backs of the poor and the middle class, while the rich simply don’t pay their fair share of taxes.

Betcha most people in Canada and the USA don’t really know how their legislators voted!

Even though he didnt make the vote he could have done a lot if cancer hadn’t taken him. That poor man… He was really loved.

Im surprised that he won over the whole of Quebec and Bloq scattered right after. That was huge, everyone was shocked. No one has every swayed Quebec like that before, it sure must have put a scare into the conservatives for a while there.

You know… most people just dont care anymore. i find it hard to care. whenever voting comes up again all i plan to do is vote for whoever has the best chance of winning over conservative. likely liberal in that case… not my top choice, but really, its more a question of lesser evils.

conservative majority has done too much to mess up this country. even minority buggers it up. all i want is for them to be forced down, just long enough for someone to change things… we all hope it would have been layton but…

well. i plan on starting a savings account next year. 10$ a month, not much, but it can increase when i have more. high interest, give me a little something when this country finally comes crashing down.

I plan to sit out the USA elections . . . I’m not rich, so voting for the Republicans doesn’t make any sense. And I’m not a member of a visible minority, so voting for the Democrats doesn’t make any sense, either. The average person is ignored by both parties.

Can’t vote in Canada yet . . . but if I could have, I’d have voted for Jack!

where i come from, i can spoil a vote to protest. unfortunately i don’t think that works in north america. it doesn’t work here as well, but at least it’s counted and people do know how many votes are spoilt.

OK….back to the original question of OP. People tend to blame God for everything miserable: Why God let this happen? Why God allows war and misery etc. It is not God who lets bad things happen, it is us people. You are right about seeing that your misery and failing was you all along. The question is: do you have any help how to stand on your feet and move on?

how do you “spoil” a vote? is that like voting for the guy who has 0% chance of winning just to avoid voting for the bad guys?
