I have nokia e5 and i read that i can use gps without network conection.

The problem is that i’ve been trying to but’t activate it, for more than 2 days now i’ve been reading and following helpless ideas. Does anyone knows how can i activate it ? Would apreciate any kind of help

I do not know how to activate it…but you can defiantly use that Nokia to hammer a few loose nails in the house if you need to. xD Ahh, Nokias. Love em.

Yes, there is a GPS antenna integrated into the Nokia E5.

Yes you can use GPS without network connection.

One extra thing: I’m guessing your Nokia has A-GPS (Assisted GPS). If so, you HAVE to disable the “Assisted” functionality or it will try to get online whenever you try to use it and may cost you money if you don’t have a data plan. To keep it very short, when using Assisted GPS the phone will try to get a rough approximation of where you are before having a usable signal from the built-in GPS so it starts up faster. How does it do that? Among other things, using a network connection to gather data. You can learn about what exactly Assisted-GPS is and how it works here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted…

To disable the “Assisted” feature and force your phone to use only the built-in GPS (and no network connection), go to:

Settings > Phone > Application sett. > Positioning > Positioning methods

And disable “Assisted GPS”.

The exact path to the settings may vary, if they do refer to your user manual to find those exact settings. This is the exact path on a C5-03.
