Why do we always ask “is life worth living”?

Why don’t we ever ask “is death worth dying”?

It seems people always view death as a way out of life. But what about a way out of death if we decide that it is worse than life?

I suppose because we don’t know what there is after death, and when people get to that level of despair they think that there couldn’t be anything worse…

Hmmmm, there is no getting out of death. We all die someday.
I say live every second, dead or alive. :)

I think these replies are right. People get blinded by despair and refuse to look beyond it.

I made this post because I saw it written somewhere and wanted to post it here for people to think about.

You can run from a lot of things, death isn’t one of them. However, you can choose to enjoy the here and now. Both life and death are what you choose to make of it. :)

I think its probably better if we try to make the best of what we have now than to throw ourselves into the unknown with no chance of return!:)

Because people dont trully come to terms with their own damning insignificance. Knowing my existance is meaningless (as is all humanity) has helped me accept that it dosent matter if I live or die, therefore I may as well enjoy whatever I do.

As with all generalizations, it does not necessarily apply to everyone. Its not necessarily my question either. As I stated above, I read it somewhere and thought it could be food for thought on this site that gets so many suicidal people.

I can’t really comment on death…

but it does seem to be the case that people *think* that they need a reason or purpose to make life worthwhile. I used to think that too. and it served a purpose. but now I think differently. that life has some special value or purpose merely is a way to deal with pain and suffering.

Interesting post, and to be honest, I have asked myself the same thing many times. It’s interesting that people would ask if life worth living… because what else are they going to do? There wont be anything to do when you die, that’s why people who want their life to be over kill themselves,s o they can stop having to do anything. But really, this is like asking, is a diamond worth selling for loads of cash or should I just throw it away and pick up a bit of dirt? Silly, really.

Especially since life is very easy to live. Dealing with loads of people and work can be hard, which is why people can be depressed etc, but eating, sleeping, drinking, and moving out is very easy, so why not do these things so you can have some time to look around at stuff? It’s silly that people make such a great big deal out of something so simple and basic.

I think the same; we really don’t have anywhere else to go, or any purpose to fulfill, so why worry? Why not just enjoy things while you can? The fact that there is nothing for me to worry about other than simple stuff like making money, or talking to people, or making dinner, just means that we can do whatever we like with life, for whatever reason we wish.

As for people who acknowledge that existence has no meaning and simply cannot face insignificance… here’s a little gift for them to feel better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D05ej…

the overwhelming amount of ******** in life would be gone in death. that is why i think it’s perceived as a way out. i haven’t decided the end of the ******** in life is worth more than putting up with it in life yet though.
