so i started working on a restaurant as a waitress,

then theyre qonna teach me how to be a cashier so i can charge if the owner isnt around, does this mean that i may be getting paid more than the other waitresses??

It means you may have two wages. Something I’d discuss with the manager if I was you.
If it is two wages, then time spent on the register may be higher (like min wage) and as a waitress you may get the lower waitress min wage which I think is something like 4.50ish.

Probably not. For most waitresses using the cash register is just part of the job. But, if you’ll be using the register ONLY all through your shift (and not getting tips) they probably have to pay you the regular minimum wage for that.
