Help help: I accidentally unplugged my iphone4 when upgrading to IOS 5.1. - Help.com

I accidentally unplugged my iphone4 when upgrading to IOS 5.1.

It was in the beginning stages of the update after the software was downloaded in iTunes. It’s now in recovery mode (showing the plug with an arrow to iTunes icon). I’ve tried putting it in DFU mode and plugging it in to recognize. I’ve tried using tinyumbrella, RecBoot and other recovery programs. I’ve tried also hitting restore in iTunes, but once it extracts the software I get this error message: “the iphone “iphone” could not be restored. This device isn’t eligible for the requested build” Please help!!! I have no clue what else to try to get my phone working again.

what happens if you kick it out of recovery mode (using one of those snow programs or something) and turn it off and just plug it in to power? If it shows an apple logo and keeps rebooting, it may actually load a functional operating system if you leave it for long enough (like maybe an hour.)

It shows the apple for a second, then just goes back to showing the usb icon, arrow to itunes icon :-( I can’t find an answer anywhere. All my software is up to date as well as the operating system.

There’s an option in some programs to get out of recovery mode (redsnow has this option). If regular restore and DFU didn’t work, I would try getting completely out of recovery mode and try to boot not connected to a computer. I’m just clarifying what I wrote before, in case I miscommunicated. Beyond that you might want to check some dedicated iPhone forums.
