There is this book series for young people and i can’t remember what it is called.

It was about this girl, who is kind of a tomboy I think. Her family didn’t have a lot of money, but i’m not sure if she lived with her grandma, or aunt, or what. They are mystery books. I know there is this one involving a church and some nuns, where she has to volunteer at this church and i remember a scene where she is painting the ceiling and the paint drips on her.
I also remember a scene when she runs into a boy she has a crush on in a store and is staring at her shoes, playing with the piece of rubber that has started to break away from the shoe. anyone recognize it?

The only mystery books I remember were Nancy Drew, but she wasn’t a tomboy, I don’t think.

Sorry, I missed the ‘they are old’ part.

As a child I read some of these: http://www.series-books.com/pennypark…

Might that be them?

YES THAT’S IT! Sammy Keyes! Thank you! I thought it was going to drive me crazy forever haha

Something I was thinking I’d like to revisit. I know I enjoyed them as a kid..but I really can’t remember much of it.
