Possibly Moving Away

Hey everyone, sorry i have not been active here for quite a while. I have been so busy with my job and college work lately. So first of all updates:

Things have been going well in the last few months, i got myself i nice little office job and i have been fairly happy. However with this job i am currently in is about to end since it has just been a temporary position for a girl on maternatiy leave. It ends tomorrow but i’m not too worried an a new opportunity has come up. I have been offered a Job though here is where i need some advice.

The position is in London, now i have lived in Northern Ireland all my life so it’s not like i will be moving to a different country but still there will be the Irish Sea between my family and me. I’ve never been away from home for more than a week alone so i’m not too sure if moving is right for me. I obviously don’t know many people there, just my step brother and convieniently a possible love interest i met a few months ago. I know if i do go i’ll miss my family a lot so Do you think i should go for it?

and if you have moved away from home, how did you cope?

I left home at 18 (moved 600+ miles away) and never went back. Life has a way of taking over. You will make new friends before you know it, and can always visit your family now and then and they can visit you. Think of it as an exciting adventure rather than a loss of something else.

Thanks AlcyoneOne,

I’m 21 and i have always been facinated by how people can just do that. I have always been close to my mums side of the family so at the moment there are a million questions floating around in my mind.

I too, moved far away at the ripe young age of 18, and have only visited a few times. I think that ultimately, you need to do what is best in life for you. You will always be able to see them if you want to, and you can have a chance to pursue this love interest! Plus, if you have any younger ones in your family, you could maybe offer to show them around town (so to speak) once you get settled in.

You can always move back, but you don’t know how many job offers will come for this particular adventure. I’d say take the offer, and see what the world gives you :].

It’s an oppertunity not to be missed. Everything has fell into place and gives you the chance of an adventure.
What you will get out of it is independence and learning about yourself. If you find it is to much to cope with, you always have the choice to pack up and go back home.

I say go for it.

The Irish Sea is nothing, kid. I’m going halfway around the world in another month!

The best decision i’ve ever made was moving away. And i didn’t move to a different city but a completely new and different country with basically no one i knew as you know. I don’t regret it for one bit. I’m happy i made that decision. I’m at home for Easter now and i miss my home in England, it’s one of the best feelings. It’s an adventure, it’s weird at first but it’s getting better and better, having your own place, doing whatever you want and being completely independent makes you learn a lot from life. I’d say go! ( i did advice you to do that before as well)
