I’ve been having bowel problems and my doctor gave me miralax and its not working, and I’m in more pain now than I was before I started.

I get the sudden sharp stabbing pain in my abdomen before the urge to go to the bathroom. And when i’m done I have more pain, and the movement is painful, but soft, almost like diarrhea. I don’t understand. I also only go to the bathroom every 3-4 days and sometimes 7+. and I don’t even feel like I have to go before hand. She says its normal, but this doesn’t feel normal to me

is this a new problem for you? did it happen after some kind of medication?

sometimes taking antibiotics can mess up the intestinal tract. some people eat yogurt with active cultures to restore balance or there are the probiotics you can take. my doctor recommended Dr.Ohira’s probiotics

to me pain is an indication something is wrong. that is why i would seek a second opinion.

Yes–see another doctor!

[I’m holding back on any advice to wrestle the doctor to the floor and to force feed her a kilogram of the stuff to see how SHE likes it!]

yeah, that’s just like the fact that so many dr’s still don’t know why i get sporadic chest pain, and non of them even do tests to find out, they all are like “it’s inflammation or something.

but now i’m just really nauseas.
this is not new. I’ve always had bowel problems even as a kid. I’m 17 and female by the way and the pain i get is much worse than my worst menstrual cramps. it wet away for a few years and now its back. I’m not on antibiotics.

ask to see a specialist. or go to a couple of different doctors. you need to find a doctor who likes to figure out what is wrong and treat it. most doctors today, once they’ve ruled out life threatening cancer or heart disease, simply treat symptoms which means the patient isn’t cured.

you will have to be your own advocate. you might start by doing some research on your own body. like keeping a journal of everything you eat/drink/medications/supplements, the time of day, quantity and then symptoms. you might be able to find a link between some foods and your pain. make sure your diet is complete with lots of fiber and liquid.

i understand your frustration with doctors not doing tests but there might not be any tests to do. if they think it is inflammation - look for the anti-inflammation diet and follow it for 90 days which is about how long it takes the body to cure inflammation on its own.

First of all, stop eating ANY cheese or white flour or white rice, etc. Anything white. Start making homemade vegetable soup, and put a little dab of butter when you serve it. Drink lots of water. NO SUGAR. NO COFFEE. No processed foods (anything that comes in a package). Eat only fresh fruit, vegetables, greens, and maybe a little grass-fed beef (organic only).

Your symptoms are NOT normal, don’t believe that doctor. Seek a recommendation (from somewhere) for a gastroenterologist (digestive tract doctor).

You might have something like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or Coeliacs disease or something else goin on down there.
you shouldnt have pain when youre opening your bowels, especially if its a soft movement.
id be going for second and third opinions and demanding blood tests and a colonoscopy.

You know your body best, if it doesnt feel right, it probably isnt.

What’s natural and good for constipation?

Molasse. One heaped tablespoon disolved in hot water. Remember to brush your teeth afterwards as it can stain the teeth. Molasse is also very high in iron and benefits many other conditions.

Psyllium husks. One teaspoon disolved in cold water (I sweeten it with apple juice) and drunk immediately.

If you take these two, something will definately happen.

I was given medication from my doctor and I ended up with dreadful stomach pains and passed out and banged my head on the way down. There are some spooky medications out there that doctors are keen to keep prescribing even when you tell them they are not doing you any good. After passing out THREE TIMES I decided to stop taking it against my doctor’s advice and haven’t passed out since. I’m only using Molasse now and if I’m in real trouble, I take the Pysllium husks.

Hope this helps.

also a diet high in fibre and with plenty of fruit and loads of water will help keep things moving.
