friends help: I recently received a fairly nasty private message on my personal blog. - Help.com

I recently received a fairly nasty private message on my personal blog.

The poster was of the opinion that my problems were nothing, compared to the problems
other people have faced. And y’know what? To some extent, I completely agree! Compared
to some of my friends, my life has been a breeze. What this poster lacked, however,
was context!

Some people are just plain unlucky and have to endure such harsh tests in
their lifetime, there’s no denying that! I don’t believe that the experiences I have had
are diminished by comparison though. I had a major break-down 2 years ago, due to a build-up
of serious issues and I’m only just recovering from it! Yet are my problems nothing because
I’ve always had a roof over my head? I don’t think so. I feel for the people who have no safety
net like I do, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel pain or have emotions and troubles in other
aspects of my life, surely?

A blog is very public, you must take the rough with the smooth if you are to bare your thoughts openly, for every truth their is an equal and opposite truth, so whatever you say can be criticized or interpreted differently.

If it is too hot dont spend to much time in the kitchen

First of all, it’s a huge pet peeve of mine when people respond to someone’s woes with something like “You’re so ungrateful! There are starving children in Africa!” Of course, someone out there will always have it worse or better than you, but pain is subjective. Every person has a right to grieve however they need, even if it is on a blog or whatever. People get angry, people get sad, and it’s okay to feel and express that, even if someone has it worse.

Anyway, depending on the blogging site that you use, you can block that person or, if it was anonymous, you can block anonymous comments. So, just do what you think you need to do. :)
