school help: I am 25 years old, 5′3″ and 118 lbs. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I am 25 years old, 5′3″ and 118 lbs.

I diet and exercise doing an hour of cardio a day, but I still feel fat. I look at other women’s abs and wish mine were as toned as theirs. I have a little bit of rib kinda showing, but I still don’t have the abs I want. I used to be anorexic in high school. My lowest weight was at about 90 lbs. I can’t believe I used to only weigh that much and sometimes I think that I should go back to that lifestyle that I led before. I just feel so insecure about my body. I don’t know what I should do.

Sweetie, you seem to still be struggling with your eating disorder. Not only do I believe that you are a beautiful person where it counts (your brain!) but I can tell you that 118 pounds does not sounds healthy to me at all, it sounds too skinny. You need to talk to a doctor or therapist about this ASAP! They can help you get a healthy body (that looks sexy and great) without HARMING yourself.

also… abs are MUSCLES… you need to put food in your body and turn that food into muscle (which weighs more than fat) to get abs. if your ribs are showing, your body might not be even getting the nutrients it needs to keep you healthy… let alone put some sexy curves and abs on you!

Talk to someone you love and trust about this.

118 is fine for your height. Talk with a trainer about exercises to tone your abdomen.

Don’t focus on weight, but on how healthy you feel.

Mariam might be right… I am much taller than you so maybe 118 is healthy for you? But you should talk to someone about feeling fat when you have ribs showing… that seems like such a body disconnect to me. Good luck!

lady your height & weight put you in the micro category. most guys can pick up and carry you with one arm.

by army standards you should be between 107-143 so you’re on target there but you could put on 10 lbs of muscle and i bet that gives you the look you’re after.

You are the perfect weight. All the tables I looked at said 105 to 140 for your height and age. Do sit ups if you want toned abs. I had a friend who was a boxer and got hit in the belly all the time and he used to do 5,000 sit ups every day. Seriously. He was insane, sure, but it is possible and he had the baddest abs you have ever seen. Plus he would let anyone hit him in the stomach as hard as they could. He loved to do it and then laugh at you and say “is that all the harder you can hit?”
