now that you mention it a lot of relogious post have come up.

I concur with there being way too many religious posts as of late…do people have to constantly publicly confirm their faith now?

Ha yea, that was me. I have a few of those. I’m just curious about people.

Most people are religious, so it’s likely that a lot of people think about religion and want to ask questions about it.

I’m an atheist but I’m also curious about people. I kind of want to understand the irrationality behind religious beliefs.

I agree with you Bruce. I like practical advice that people can actually use.

So what is your point? I agree with you, those myspace posts are really annoying.

the point was, why complaints about the religious post because there are many, and not other types. i honestly don’t know if you are being obtuse on purpose, or what.

okay, cool. i have been having a bad time with spelling the past 2 days.

actually to be fair how many people try to convert as opposed to how many try to get nasty about the Jesus freaks? and some people are helped by a re affirmation of their faith, or by the possibility of accepting a faith. no one is trying to fight you, you kinda brought it up, dude.and a big part of the lifestyle for christians is to publically reafirm thier faith. I respect non militant athiest as much as i respect non fanatical religeons. and expect the same

Yes there are a whole lot of religious posts/answers on this website. Many of them are NOT needed. I am not saying that because I don’t like religions, I’m saying it because answers like “turn to the lord” or “don’t give up your faith, god listens” are just taking up bandwidth.
When someone asks a question like “I think someone is stalking me, what do I do?” or “I have no money to support my family, what do I do?” the religious answers are not helpful at all. What people need is real advice.
My guess as to why there are so many religious fanatics on this website is because they are a.) Hoping that providing help to others will give them a better chance of being granted entry to heaven.
b.) Hoping to encourage others to be “saved” (make jesus your friend) will give them a better chance of being granted entry to heaven.
And finally c.) Coincidently many people who have problems and need answers are religious. These people may have gone through several hardships in their lives where nothing has ever turned out good for a long period of time. They either can’t keep a job, have suffered an injury from an accident, etc. Their only way to explain these unfortunate events are “god” is punishing them for their “sins”, and somehow these people weave their way onto this website with a problem, get a little bit of feedback from some of the same type of people that they are, then provide the same type of answers to the end user (you). But I am sure there are also other reasons why people who happen to be religious hang around this website. Hope that provided you with some insight.

What’s the point of living this life if you’re only going to heaven?

Why does the finite span of life make it worthless? Nothing lasts forever, you just enjoy it while you can. And you don’t need a dude from above to give your own life meaning.

You can’t prove it any way or the other, but, it’s more common sense to me that there’s nothing after we die. But I’ve accepted that! It’s hard to let some comforting beliefs go.
