Attempted suicide = mental hospital

What happens there if you’re a teen?

How long do you have to stay?

Will they make you take antidepressants?

They will prevent you from doing so. And I believe that the people will watch you closly, so I doubt you’ll have any alone time. Saving a life will be important.

My ex-husband used to frequently get himself involuntarily put into the mental hospital. It is a lot like prison, only more crazy people. They might require you to take antidepressants or antipsychotics. If you are paying, you should expect to stay for a long time. If your treatment is being paid by the state, they will ask you to sign a paper agreeing to not hurt yourself or anyone else, and you will be released after a day or two. They might hook you up with some outpatient care.

You know that guy who killed all those people at Virginia Tech a few years ago? He was let out from the same mental hospital that my ex-husband was let out from.

Probaly depends on the area and your income, whether you are funding yourself or the state is. There will be a lot of people there crazier than you that may make you feel worse but you also have an opportunity to talk to trained proffessionals. Depends how strong you are too - everyones experience is unique to them - if you feel the need to do it - talk with the people who run the place, even visit first if you can - do your research.
