How should i do business like this

I am working with my father in his business. It is a small organization of 4-5 workers. My father is not a good business man. He does not have a very good attitude as well. He is a bit negative, low self-esteemed, unmotivated, not a peoples person.

He has a bit of technical knowledge. I am a new entrant with him. I dont have any prior work experience but I have decided to continue with this business.

I am not a motivated person either, I am trying to improve my attitude as well. I still am an under-achieved person with little skills to do so. I dont like his style of working either. But I still need to do this business because I need to fix up a career soon.

My question is is my decision right to pursue my career in such a manner.

Well, you need to hold on to what you have until you are established in a different field. It’s really hard to be motovated when the boss sets a poor example. So, I would say, look at the other people who are working for him and determine their ambition. But regardless of others, you need to do your best while you are there. Besides, you don’t know - anything could happen. Maybe the boss will see your ambitiona and decide to give you the business. This likly will not be the case, but you get the meaning. The motovation you have when you find what you’re looking for will not be any different than the motovation you have now.
I’d start working on that if I were you.

I think it would be better to learn fundamentally the business at an other place — and turn back to your father’s business later.
