friends help: I want to tell a friend how I feel about her. - Help.com

I want to tell a friend how I feel about her.

I’m absolutely crazy about her and want to reveal my feelings but I am incredibly nervous and am not really sure how. I’m 21, have never been in a relationship and have always been increadibly shy and awkward so something like this is exceedingly difficult.
I’m not really sure about the practicalities of doing it (where, when) and it is stressing me out big time! I’ve been goung over what to say in my head, but everything seems wrong for some reason. I know I’m probably over thinking this and it’s much simpler than I am making it.
Thinking about this is turning e into a nervous wreck! Does anyone have any tips, advice, anthing that will help?
I’m absolutely crazy about her and don’t want to slip into the oh so dreaded frienzone. A place I am all too familiar with.

Yeah, don’t do it.

Instead, go to meetup.com, find social groups and start developing your social skills.

When you are anxious and inexperienced, you always go for what seems safe and easy… and that’s usually coworkers and friends. Big mistake. If you’re meant to be with this friend of yours, it will happen eventually…. but it’s far better to be confident and experienced first…. you’ll have better judgment about who is right for you.

Linuxya’s suggestion has merit.

But also, why not take a chance?
There exists rivers of awkwardsness all over the world.

Just roll up your pant legs one at a time and tip-toe in and wade through to the other side.

Here my advice:
Just be honest with her.
If she is a decent enough person, she will either let you down sympathetically or actually embrace you.
Take a chance! She might be worth it.

HONESTY is your #1 weapon. Dont underestimate it. If you are true to your heart, people notice it. (Its quite attractive too)
Honesty breeds confidence. Confidence breeds action. Actions breed results.

Just go. Worry about the fallout later.

PS: if it crashes and burns, oh well. Its not meant to be.
Take a few deep breaths BEFORE… and AFTER!

Try dropping some subtle hints to see if you can get an idea if she feels the same way. If she reciprocates, then try using more obvious hints.

I don’t actually get why guys, especially when you already are the girl’s friend, fear the ‘friendzone’ so much. Think about it: You started off as friends, ended up wanting more, and instead of moving on to something deeper you just ended up staying as friends (+slight awkwardness from the revealed feelings). But in the end, you’re just going back to the starting point right?

Just because you become ‘friend-zoned’ doesn’t mean you have to stop trying to win her affection. If you are actually absolutely crazy about this girl, then just tell her your feelings and if she rejects you the first time, keep trying. Relationships don’t always start off with both sides beginning with mutual affection. If she ‘friend-zones’ you the first time, then just work hard to win her heart over before a 2nd confession (if you think she’s worth all the trouble of course).
