So my dad was trimming the bushes in our backyard when he came across a birds nest with a few baby birds in it.

He didn’t touch them though, so will the mom bird come back to them? Because I know that they won’t if you have touched them.

When I was little, my school had a field trip to the national forrest. The park ranger who was our guide said that, that’s not true a bird wont abandon its young for being in contact with people. I have heard several times since then that they will. I chose to believe the park ranger. Because honestly why tell a bunch of young kids that its okay to touch baby birds, if it will lead to their very slow and painful death?

Thanks everyone, especially @badwolf26. That article was really helpful, I’m just worried for when the birds hit the stage of leaving the nest and going on the ground. I have two dogs who kill anything that enters the yard and I don’t want them to end up hurting them. Does anyone have any advice on that? I don’t wanna move the nest but i’m scared for when they start walking on the ground. And it’s not like we can keep them on the chain every time we take them out, my dogs are both huskies and they need to run off the energy they have or it will drive everyone in the house crazy.

Hm…well if the birdies are in the bushes then they should be fine. They won’t leave the nest until they can fly so it’s unlikely they will start walking on the ground. Nevertheless I suppose all you can do is keep an eye on your dogs when they are outside. The baby birds will probably leave the nest in a few weeks :)
