I’m having some trouble using a mold for gumpaste.

We are making a cake for a bridal shower, and we bought gumpaste and cheap plastic molds to make seashells out of the gumpaste. We have been having trouble getting the gumpaste to fit in the molds without cracking, and getting the gumpaste out of the molds after we froze it was difficult. I was just wondering if anybody knew any tips to make this process easier. Thank you(:
