Please tell me what you think.

I’m in color guard ( for those of you who don’t know
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWVHzPbVcJ0&list=PLB075238BC086FD39&index=12 &feature=plpp_video) And captain tryouts are tomorrow. Part of tryouts is I have to write a paragaph as to why I think I should be captain so please read and tell me what you think.
My name is Angel Pringle, and I believe that I should be captain of the color guard because I understand all the responsibilities that come along with it. I realize that, as captain, I would have to take responsibility for my own and the rest of the guards actions. I also have to set an example for the rest of the guard, because my actions can reflect on their behavior. I also know that I would have to be present, be pleasant, and be patient. I have to be at every practice and I should be at every class. Along with having a good attitude throughout the day so that I can be at full attention, and, possibly above all, be patient with those who may learn slower or may need extra help. I know that, with most people, getting angry will only make them less likely to want to participate. My greatest advantage is, thanks to the T.E.A.C.H. program, I have plenty of experience with teaching. I may not be the best at every part of guard (nobody is), but I put every ounce of determination and heart into every part of this guard, and I want to be the person that the guard will know can help them and cheer them on every step of the way.

Sounds good to me. Why don’t you begin the paragraph with a summary of all the reasons, then go into each one. You do the reasons sequentially which is nice but its always best to start with a summary, that way the points stick in the head of the reader throughout the whole paragraph (or essay).

For example: My name is Angel Pringle and I believe I should be captain because x, y an z. I have experience with X from the TEACH program. I have demonstrated y through my personal life. Ect ect.
