pregnancy help: Since I stopped taking the pill (contraceptive) my normal period has started coming in every 6 or so weeks. - Help.com

Since I stopped taking the pill (contraceptive) my normal period has started coming in every 6 or so weeks.

It’s never on time or when I’m expecting it, so even though my partner and I are using condoms, I get quite paranoid.

Last time my period came I spotted once a week before it was due. So now it’s been around 6 weeks and my period should be coming, I spotted 4 or so days ago.
Yesterday I became extremely lightheaded in the shops and felt like I was going to pass out, I felt terrible like I was going to be sick. My partner brought me two drinks, first being water and second being some sugary drink but neither really made me feel better.

When I got home I started getting period-like pains down there for a while and when I went to the toilet I had some spotting and when I wiped, the tiniest amount of light blood. But since then there has been no blood, I feel heavy down there, but no where near as bad as last night.

I don’t think it’s a miscarriage, I think you’re meant to bleed a lot more than a couple of drops, but who knows. I’m a little more worried I might be pregnant, or worse. I’m getting a pregnancy test today but I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this?

Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Spotting followed by no blood and feeling nauseous are all signs of pregnancy. Best not to speculate till after the test.

Not every woman menstruates exactly every 28 days; it’s different for each woman and a lot of women have irregular periods. The pregnancy test is a good idea, but no, from what I’ve heard from friends about miscarriages, you’re not having one. You can speak to your doctor about your periods, and ask if there’s something that could regulate them.

Why did you stop taking the pill?
