Help me with my introductory paragraph for my college essay.

I have to write about what I believe is biggest social problem . I believe poverty to be the biggest social problem, because the misery of poverty follows lack of education, mal nutrition and health problems and rise in crime. What should my first sentence be ?

actually I believe lack of an education to be the problem
Poverty can be reduced by not multiplying (if you are poor and don’t have children like they do in Africa then,in time,there will be enough resources for everyone ).As things are,because of a lack of,let’s call it thinking,more and more people will live in misery as there aren’t enough resources for all of us

The first sentence of an introductory paragraph should be an “attention-getter.” It should “hook” the reader and make her/him want to read your essay. It should be:
l) a dramatic statement, 2) a question, or 3) a universal statement.

For examples consider:

Although ________ (your country) is one of the richest nations in culture, family, and tradition, it is one of the poorest on this continent!
