High school help: What can I do with my life, career-wise? - Help.com

What can I do with my life, career-wise?

I’m pretty depressed right now because I’m at a loss for what I’m going to do with my life in the future.

I’m going to be honest here - I’m lazy. I’m a high school sophomore, 15 years old, female, I have little ambition. I’m a simple person. I am perfectly content living in a small apartment and don’t usually spend money on eating out, going out, or buying tons of clothes. I would do just fine on a small but stable salary.

I have decent grades, but what I really enjoy is art and animation. However, the industry is far too competitive and unstable. I could never get into it as a career ad prefer to do it as a hobby and for when I want extra money - I take commissions every now and then when I want to indulge myself with a trip to the mall, going to a fancy restaurant, etc.

On top of this, I have pretty bad social anxiety. It’s gotten better and I can manage it easily, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m awkward & a bad conversationalist. I wouldn’t be able to get a job that would require me to be very social and make good impressions on people (such as a waitress or something).

I’m really stuck on what to do at this point. I want something that won’t cause me too much stress and will allow me to go home at the end of the day and do whatever I feel like doing (which is usually sleeping, playing video games, and blogging). I don’t want something that will necessarily require a college degree, mainly because I don’t want to be drowning in debt from tuition.

What are my options?
Thanks in advance!! I’m just super confused with my life right now and really have no idea where to look. I want to plan ahead and gain work experience now so that I’m not running in circles when I graduate high school.

I know a lot of women that work in restaurants and day cares and they have little or no training and can make a living of it as long as they have someone else to help pay the bills. I had two roommates most of the time when I was young and poor. Three people with crappy jobs can share the bills and get along pretty well.
