Hello!

I am having a bit of a problem with my paper, that I have to make in MS Word. I know how to start the page numbering, but the problem is that my paper can’t have page numbers on the last three pages. I don’t know how to do so the numbers wouldn’t be there. Please, I really need your help!!!

I don’t know either but here are 3 suggestions.

1. Make the last 3 pages a separate document.

2. Change the font color on the page number of the last 3 pages to white.

3. Manually delete the page number from the last 3 pages. Not entirely sure that is possible which is why it is last.

You should place the page number (the automatic one from the menu “insert”) into the FOOTER.
Did you made it like this?

Did I understand it the right way?
Your last 3 pages MAY NOT HAVE a page number? (If so, souther_comfort’s advise is the best one.)

Yes, I tried it. I copied the last three pages to another document, but when I pasted them back to my paper, the numbers were there too…

Of course, as long as you have placed the automatic numbering.
If the document is not too long you can set ALL page numbers manually — except for the last 3 pages.

And how do I do that?

And, b.t.w., why the last 3 pages may not have a page number?

Make a FOOTER (for the whole document) and place there (in “page view”) the page number for each page.

Because there are accesories to my paper and in my paper regulations it says, that on those pages there can’t be page numbers..

In this case I would simply make a separate document for this 3 last pages only, without footer and page numbers.

Don’t paste them back in. If you have automatic page numbering it will add page numbers back into all the pages that are added whether that is 3 pages or 3000. Keep both documents separate; one with page numbers and one without.

If you have to submit them online your best bet is probably to not use the automatic page number, but to manually type in the numbers in the footer of the document, as Zirbel suggested.
If you can just print your paper and turn it in, then print all the pages that are supposed to have page numbers. Then print a second document that has the accessories without page numbers.

There is probably a way to change the way the automatic page numbering works to solve this, but it’s not worth the effort unless you will be doing this a lot.

Just out of curiosity I posted a query on MS word forums.

Apparently all you need is to use section breaks:
