Is daydreaming to much bad for you?

Sometimes I feel like could lay in my bed in the day time under the covers and just get lost in my own world.
Also I realized when I get really stressed out I find comfort in my “little fantasy world”

The strange thing is I could not day dream for weeks then all of a sudden do it all the time for weeks. It’s not like I don’t go out in the real world. It’s just sometimes I would rather be in my head. Strange?

Anything done to excess can never be good for you, in my view. Given your situation and how you described it, however, I wouldn’t say that you’re at risk of anything bad. You’re using daydreaming as a form of “escapism” in order to alleviate stress, which is perfectly fine. Just remember, everything in moderation.

I like to live in my head too. I am a serious daydreamer. When I am working lots of times I am daydreaming and even carrying on conversations with other people in my head. Sometimes out loud. People are always asking me who I am talking to and I just say “myself”… it has not caused me any problems and I have been pretty successful.

As long as you don’t do it when you should be doing something else. Like driving, or brain surgery, or cooking bacon in the nude. Ya gotta stay sharp to avoid the grease, knowwutimean?

I often wonder the same thing about daydreaming. I guess its fine for some people who daydream in short spells or like like Windmills said can do it in moderation. For people like me (and probably you as well) this habit should be avoided at all costs!!!

I compare it to a recovering alcoholic incorporatiog social drinking back into their lives; while a small drink here or there is fine for the average person, to this person it is too major a temptation and can led the person back to their original habits (reducing their quality of life, or even destoying it).

I will suffer with trying to stop this habit probably for life, but in not spending hours daydreaming, I can get up on time and get to sleep quicker. Also it helps me to get back in touch with reality. I daydreamed because I was displeased with self and teh world around me, now that daydreams are no more, I must get up and DO SOMETHING.

Stop this habit or risk losing your realtiy to it (like poor Ol’Doc Ralph above). Take up diary writing, art, poetry, dance, etc. as a way to release.

It’s more comfortable to ’stay’ in your head, but over time it will drive you crazy. I would know, I spend a lot of time by myself. I literally drive myself up a wall sometimes just thinking and wondering. Being around others is a huge relief after much time alone. Try being around others more often. It’ll take your mind off of things.

I’m the same way. I don’t know how bad it is for you, but I am happiest when I’m in my fantasy world and spend most of my time there. I guess when the line between reality and fantasy blur, you’re in trouble.
