I’d like to start up a business providing basic computer

security (firewall, anti-virus, and spyware scanner) specifically for home users but I’m not sure there’s a market willing to pay a price for it. I’d want to do it remotely so the costs should be minimal from my end, but I’m really having trouble getting started. Is anyone else in this boat?

It will be a tough sell, reallly. Especially the remote part since you’d have to get people to open the computer to remote connections and that’s a technical step that, if they can do they can probably also manage their own firewall/security issues.

Additionally, even if you get over the hurdles, I can only imagine the profit margins on this kind of business being so tight that it would be very difficult to make a real go of it. :/
